Course Description
Your child will be in a Math course that will focus on Common Core State Standards for Mathematics and the General Learner Outcomes. Throughout the Go Math! Program, real-world examples and mathematical modeling apply mathematics to other disciplines and real world contexts such as science and business. Real-world situations are a focus of Go Math! and are found throughout the program. Each unit opens with an overview of a profession which involves math in the program feature, Careers in Math. Careers in Math help students to make connections between what they are learning and how it applies in real-world contexts.
In the classroom, students will participate in the workshop model. This model consists of a mini-lesson followed by student collaboration time and a closing connection. This model creates a classroom that encourages higher-level thinking, problem solving, and connects Mathematics to the real world. As a result, students become active learners.
